The Company was founded in 1986 and is devoted exclusively to the appraisal of privately-held business interests and other financial securities for gift and estate tax purposes, mergers and acquisitions, buy/sell agreements, litigation support and other business purposes, and to providing litigation support and consulting services to business owners, attorneys and accountants.
The Principals are Accredited Senior Appraisers with the American Society of Appraisers, each having over 25 years of valuation experience. They are the authors of The Comprehensive Guide for the Valuation of Family Limited Partnerships and numerous professional articles, are developers of the Johnson/Park Empirical Method for determining discounts for lack of marketability and are valuation instructors and national speakers on multiple valuation topics. The principals have testified on valuation issues in district, federal and tax court.
The Clients served include national, regional and independent law and CPA firms located primarily in San Antonio and surrounding areas, including Austin, Houston, Dallas, Corpus Christi, Laredo, and the Rio Grande Valley. MPJ Business Valuations has also been retained by the US Department of Justice, the Internal Revenue Service, national and regional banks, and directly by privately-held businesses.
